Today, I got to experience things first hand with the installation of the following pieces of software.

Box1 – SQL Server 2005 SP3 (RDBMS, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS) installed and configured
Box2 – PerformancePoint Monitoring Server, ProClarity installed and configured
Box3 – MS Office 2007 Enterprise and MOSS 2007 Enterprise installed, configuration pending

Some interesting things of note:
1. ProClarity tries to connect using SQL authentication, and does not like to have a password that begins with ‘;’ – I almost lost it when it would not connect to the SQL Server, though I could see the connection coming to the back end and getting thrown in the error logs. Finally, I gave it a not-so-cryptic password and boom – it worked like a charm.

Next tasks:

  • Configure MOSS
  • Setup Excel Services
  • Setup Kerberos Authentication
  • Deploy Dashboard on MOSS
  • Setup accounts and permissions and trusts
